Hello Fashsewnistas! And Akwaaba! (welcome!) to my page Sew Cazual. This is my first official post of 2018 (I hope I’m not too late to the party!) I must confess it’s taken a while to begin posting but after binge watching too many sewing tutorials on YouTube and following so many talented seamstresses in the sewing community on social media, I think I now have the courage than ready to emerge from the shadows and into the light.
As this is my first blog post I thought I’d do a little introductory of myself and what I do and what I plan to do with this page:
Who are you?
My name is Carol but all those who know me call me Caz. It’s a nickname that I was christened with during my school days and it’s just something that never left ha! Now that we are a little acquainted you are more than welcome to call me the same 😀
I am based in London, UK, born to Ghanaian parents and into a huge family!
I’ve been learning to sew for just under 9 months and it’s, so far, been the best thing I have ever started. What started as a stress reliever has now developed into a hobby that’s really taken off.
What do you plan to do with this blog?
I plan to post my adventures into the world of sewing. As I’m still relatively new to sewing I want to document everything that I’m doing.. and I mean EVERYTHING!! The good, the bad and the very very bad! I really do want to push myself with every project I make at the end of it so that I’m able to improve on my techniques. So be prepared to be bombarded with projects and photos and vlogs and… oooh the list goes on!
There have been ultimate triumphs and big and utter fails which has really helped to sharpen my sewing skills, taught me patience. There have been projects that I have had to physically pull myself away from and put both myself and the fabric out of it’s misery! But overall I’ve really fallen in love with sewing and watching my creations come to life. I felt that I’ve learnt so much already <3
What are you currently working on at the moment?
Where. Do. I. Start!?? I honestly have so many to list. I am literally always planning about the next project I’m going to start on whilst I’m still working on the current make! As I’m writing this post, I’ve recorded my first video talking about my Simplicity pattern haul for April.
As my birthday is also approaching, I decided to task myself with making my own two piece outfit out of ankara fabric (which you may see in the background!) using New Look pattern 6231 which I’ll post in the next couple of days. Watch this space!
The next DIY project I plan to work on is a pair of wide pair of trousers using Simplicity pattern 6031. It’s my first attempt at making a pair like this so fingers crossed it works out.
So once again guys I thank you for visiting! I’m really excited to show you what I’ve been working on so please do let me know what you have been working on this month or what you have planned to do and I shall see you again on the next one!
Happy Sewing 🙂
